IMAGINE WHAT THE FUTURE WOULD BE LIKE IF WE PREPARED OUR YOUTH WITH SKILLS FOR LIFE?

This isn’t your typical classroom setting! As the only Nationally Recognized Equine Assisted Learning Program in Canada, our programs are customized to maximize learning potential and focus on developing individual skills as participants work through group challenges.

We offer unique, fun filled programs, that are interactive and experiential, allowing our participants to develop life skills with fast, effective results!
Working with horses will leave the youth with a lasting memory and sense of empowerment as they work alongside our 1200 pound teachers! Our BuildingBlock™ Program gives our participants the tools to gain leadership skills, listening skills, and problem solving skills, as well as effective communication skills, life skills, social skills, and much more!

We use horses as the teacher in a safe and controlled environment. Each session ranges between 8-12 programs, lasting 1 hour and 15 minutes. This ensures that each participant gets the most out of their experience, and allows our facilitators to track the advancements throughout the participants own personal journey. After each program, handouts are sent back with participants, and teachers/counsellors/parents, to continually parallel the skills learnt in the arena, back to everyday life.

This specific BuildingBlock™ Program has been approved by the Calgary Board of Education, and has had multiple research studies to the results.

CURRICULUM PROGRAM

Our Curriculum Program is designed to develop leadership and life skills for a variety of needs and applications, and bring out the best in our youth. EAL is not about riding or horsemanship; however, the horses are used as a powerful teaching tool in a safe, non-threatening non-judgmental environment. Youth will engage in objectively based programs, allowing for individual growth in a team setting. Teams will work together building relationships, problem solving, and developing communication and listening skills to name a few.

In the duration of each 8 - 12 week session, our youth will complete a series of 8 - 12 programs which focus on different objectives that will develop participant’s life skills. Participants are presented with a certificate upon completion of the program.

ANTI-BULLYING PROGRAM

Is your child a victim of bullying? Do they exhibit poor or anti-social communication skills? Do they tend to excluded from activities? Our EAL program can help! Through extensive research our BuildingBlock™ Program has been proven to improve communication skills, self-esteem as well as emotional, physical and self well-being.

Is your child the bully? Do they exhibit aggressive behaviour? Perhaps they struggle with neurological disabilities, have been mis-diagnosed, over-looked, or even experienced abuse themselves. Through our BuildingBlock™ Program we promote positive leadership skills and empathy. We encourage responsibility, a positive and conducive learning environment, and motivate youth to develop choice making and goal setting skills.

Whether your child is the Bully or the Victim of Bullying, this program, through extensive research, has been proven to teach our youth bully-proofing skills. By using the horse as the teacher, we level out the playing field. The horse does not care what we look like, or how we dress, they do not care if we are rich or poor. They do not judge and they cannot lie! Horses look for leadership, and through our program, they provide our youth with the skills they require to find the leader within themselves, and focus on their own individual potential.

WHY DO WE USE HORSES?

We use horses because their intuitive nature and extreme sensitivity provides our Certified Equine Assisted Learning Facilitators with a window into the personality and leadership style of youth. Our horses do the teaching through their body language, while our facilitators help guide the participants to self-discovery, and parallel the events that happened in the arena back to real-life.

This unique program helps youth develop life skills necessary to deal with life's challenges. We focus on positive communication, problem solving and conflict resolution to find creative alternatives to negative influences, or behaviours through continual positive reinforcement.
